Pear Run 2016

One of my resolutions this year was to try and get into better shape by running. My goal right now is to get up to a Half Marathon by the next Houston Marathon in January 2017. After running in the ABB 5k in January my next goal was to run a 10k. I did that this past weekend with the 2016 Pear Run in Pearland, TX.

The race was held at the Pearland Town Center off of TX-288 just south of Beltway 8.

Because I was running in this race I didn't exactly have a lot of time to take pictures. I had my mother take pictures when I was on the track.

Yes that is my ugly mug shot. I need to shave....

People brought their pets to the event. They weren't allowed on the course though.

This was where everyone lines up just before the start of the race. I almost didn't make it cause I couldn't hear the announcer very well.

I took the picture above and below on my phone while waiting at the starting line. There were quite a few people for this race.

And we're off!

The first person to run win ran it in about 30 minutes which is just insane.

Down the final stretch. Some of the people walking here were in the 5k Fun Run.

So how well did I do on this race?

My official time was around 1 hour 7 minutes. This is quite an accomplishment for me. A few months ago it would have taken me an Hour just to do a 5k and now I'm doing twice the distance. My next goal is a 15k. I haven't decided what race it will be. I'll have to find one first.
