The Journeyman Project: Pegasus Prime

As the final credits begin scrolling on my screen I begin to feel a great sense of relief fall over me. I can't believe what I had just done. This is something that I have been waiting for almost 20 years to finally accomplish. I finished The Journeyman Project: Turbo. Well to be precise I finished Pegasus Prime, the remake, but that is just as good!

Why do I feel this way? It is a long story.

Warlords of Draenor: The Good, The Bad, The Ugly

If I haven't posted anything recently it is for good reason. Warlords of Draenor came out and I have been immersed in Blizzards 5th expansion in the World of Warcraft universe. After spending the last few months leveling up 4 level 100 characters and doing the whole gearing and profession leveling gauntlet that comes with every new expansion I believe that I am ready to share a few of my thoughts on Warlords of Draenor.

Southpark: The Stick of Truth

It has been a long time since I've ever played a game like this. You know a game that you just enjoy playing form beginning to end. A game that draws you in and doesn't let go. A game where you run around and tell all of your friends about how awesome it is and they all universally agree. A game where you keep telling yourself just one more Quest, just one more hour. And then as you look as the credits roll you realize it's 3am and you've been playing all night long. And you don't want it to end, you crave more. That is Southpark: The Stick of Truth.

The case for an Overwatch single player campaign

Now unless you have been sleeping under a rock this past weekend you would have heard by now that Blizzard announced their first new IP in over 17 years, Overwatch. Overwatch is a team based FPS/MOBA hybrid game set sometime in the future. here you face off in various 6 vs 6 PvP matches on a variety of game maps. Currently only 2 game modes are know are Payload, where you escort a payload vehicle to it's destination, and Point Capture, where you capture control points.

Now I could go off and explain everything that is known about the game thus far but to be frank other people have already done that on various other websites and most of them have actually played the game. I'll link to a few of those here at the end of this post. What I want to talk about instead is the possibilities of this franchise as a single player game (which it isn't right now) and my reasoning as to why Blizzard could make it happen.

Dreamfall Chapters

If I get a little excited while writing this it is because I have been waiting seven long years for this game. It's been seven years since we last visited Stark, our world, in the future. The world of technology. It's been seven years since we wen to Arcadia, the world of magic. It's been seven years since we saw April Ryan tossed off the side of a pier into the water, left for dead. It's been seven years since Zoe Castillo was placed into a deep sleep by her mother seemingly to never wake up again. Seven years of a cliffhanger, seven years of speculation, seven years without a end to one of the greatest stories in a video game in the last decade.

Now the Seven Year wait is over. Dreamfall Chapters is here and now it's time to finish the Longest Journey.

Gaming Backlog

I had promised myself ages ago that I would never let this happen. I always told myself to try to always keep up with the games in my library. Well here we are now. After multiple Humble Bundles, Steam sales, Origin sales, and game giveaways I now have a huge library of games that I have yet to play.

So what is this post for? This is for my sanity.

I am making a list of every game that I own and need to play. This way hopefully I'll be able to eat through my backlog of games so I won't feel so guilty. -.-

Why 3rd party console exclusives are bad for business and bad for gamers

Today it was announced that the sequel to last years reboot of Tomb Raider will become an exclusive to the Xbox One. Like many gamers I was taken aback by this announcement. As a primary PC gamer who hasn't touched a console since the 16 bit era I long had accepted the idea of exclusive content. This was the accepted norm of gaming was't it? A studio gets a cash injection from a major hardware vendor like Nintendo, Microsoft, or Sony to make games for their console to move units. The game studio gets money to make games, the hardware developer gets games for their console. It's a win-win right?

While this may have been the case for the gaming industry for over 40 years since the first home console hit the market this isn't so much the case in 2014.
